There’s no denying that Thursday’s Nintendo Direct was full of exciting announcements. For me personally, N64 games coming to Nintendo Switch was probably my favorite reveal. Just like with the NES & SNES games, Nintendo will be releasing a wireless N64 controller for use with N64 games on Nintendo Switch. Interestingly, as spotted by Twitter user Nintendeal, the controller will feature the likes of ZR, home, and share buttons. Additionally, the N64 Switch Controller boasts a USB C port for charging and a sync button for connecting it to your console. The Mega Drive controller will also include these extra features.
Switch Online’s N64 launch library features nine games: Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Yoshi’s Story, Mario Tennis, Dr Mario 64, Sin & Punishment, and WinBack. Nintendo has also confirmed that the following games will arrive sometime after launch: Banjo Kazooie, Paper Mario, Pokemon Snap, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Mario Golf, and F-Zero X.
The N64 Switch Controller will retail for $49.99/ €49.99/ £39.99, with pre-orders expected to go live in the near-future. To access Switch Online’s Nintendo 64 and Mega Drive games, you will need to upgrade to a new plan called Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Pricing is scheduled to be confirmed closer to the plan’s launch in late October. Are you excited to play N64 games on Nintendo Switch?
