Earlier this year, Electronic Arts spoke of its commitment to Nintendo Switch, with plans to release seven titles for the system within a year. Popular online battle royale game Apex Legends had already been confirmed as one game, along with another “legacy” edition of FIFA. Now, it is becoming increasingly likely that 2010’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit will join Burnout Paradise as another EA racer within the Switch library.
Australian and New Zealand retailer Mighty Ape has a product listing for the title, which has likely gone live a little early. The SKU is simply titled “Need for Speed Hot Pursuit” with Switch tagged as the format. You can preorder it right now from Mighty Ape, but no release date or in-depth details are noted.
This would be Criterion’s second racing game to hit Switch following Burnout Paradise. That same development studio is currently at work on a brand new Need for Speed title.
Lending a great deal of credence to this listing is the fact that a Venture Beat report from last month explicitly named a Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit remaster as one of the games coming to Switch in the next year. It also claimed the remaster will come to other platforms. Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville and an unannounced EA Original from Velan Studios are said to be the remaining unannounced EA games.
