Amy Kellems Kylie Kellems play Pokémon GO, receive Pokémon apology cake from neighbor after she calls the police

The truth is stranger than fiction, and it’s often funnier too. Such is the case of Amy Kellems and her daughter, Kylie, who were playing Pokémon GO to pass the time during quarantine. They drove around their neighborhood, pulling over here and there to catch critters. However, along the way, they caught the attention of a neighbor, “Victoria,” who thought all that starting and stopped looking suspicious, so the neighbor called the police. Kellems quickly straightened out the situation with the police, but she posted about the incident on Nextdoor according to Fox 35 Orlando, which then got the attention of Victoria. The neighbor felt compelled to apologize for the misunderstanding in the only way that made sense: a Pokémon apology cake.

“Sorry We Called the Cops on You” is handwritten on top of the cake, which includes a Pikachu figure and markers for Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

I wasn’t going to post this.. because it’s slightly embarrassing that this was not the first time this has happened to…

The neighbor stood “10 feet back” upon delivering the Pokémon apology cake to Kellems’ doorstep, thus satisfying social distancing rules. Now, this family is free both to continue playing Pokémon GO and to eat some delicious themed cake.

Coronavirus is an awful, tragic thing, but in the face of such things, all we can do is look for amusing anecdotes like this one. May you all be graced with a Pokémon apology cake in your lives.
