Last year, Netflix announced plans for a live-action show based on Resident Evil. Rather than drawing from any previous series or sticking to the plot of the Capcom games, the plan was to start fresh with an all-new take on the plot. We’ve heard almost nothing since then, but that changed just moments ago. During the Netflix Geeked livestream at Summer Game Fest, “sponsor” Umbrella Corporation hijacked the feed to reveal the cast of Netflix’s live-action Resident Evil show.
Netflix Resident Evil live-action cast
Throughout the livestream, “Umbrella” released several short teasers asking #WhoisWesker. At the end of the show, they finally gave us the answer! Lance Reddick is taking on the role of Wesker in this rebooted Resident Evil universe. He’s a lover of video games and has previously lent his voice to the Netflix Castlevania series as well as the upcoming Horizon: Forbidden West. The live-action cast also includes Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nunez. However, only Reddick’s role has been revealed.
Last year we were told that the Netflix Resident Evil series would revolve around “the Wesker twins.” An early synopsis indicated that the show would follow two different timelines. In the first, 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker investigate their father’s dark secrets. The second timeline is set a decade into the future when almost all of humanity has mutated into monsters. It’s unclear if this newly-revealed live-action cast is still following this script, or if there have been some re-writes.
