The Switch has been out in the wild for half a year now. While the system is already being loved by millions, one of the major criticisms being brought against it is that it currently lacks multimedia capabilities. Nintendo launched the Switch as a ‘pure ‘game console with no other extra functionality outside of posting to social media networks.

That isn’t to say that things will stay that way¬†forever.

Nintendo has never written off the idea of adding multimedia apps to the Switch. Rather, the company focused on establishing the core function of the system first-and-foremost: to play games. Since that’s pretty much a done deal at this point, it looks like the ‘extra goodies’ are ready to be baked in.

A rumor has sprouted from Go Nintendo. Apparently, one of the site’s users has given them information about a conversation with a Netflix service representative. It seems that Netflix is just about ready to be launched on Switch. All that’s holding it back is Nintendo’s approval for the app to be added to the eShop.

There’s no way to say how factual this information is, which is why it is being classified as a rumor for the time being. If the information is actually true, then adding Netflix to the Switch before the holiday shopping rush begins could add fuel to the Switch’s already strong momentum. While not everyone cares about this kind of functionality, some would really love to have it. Options are never bad!

What do you think? Are you hoping that Netflix (and other multimedia apps like Spotify, YouTube, etc.) will hit the Switch soon?
