New Animal Crossing: New Horizons trailer shows the game’s social side

A new Japanese Animal Crossing: New Horizons trailer has been released. The trailer demonstrates the social aspects of the game, focusing on four individuals coming together outside of their busy days. It also only shows the Switch Lite, with each of the colors, including coral pink, getting a look in.

Social island life

We’ve always known that the game allows up to four islanders to play together online. But this new Animal Crossing: New Horizons trailer is the first time that we’ve seen it in action across four Switches outside of the same household. Each player lives separate lives; they barely even socialize in school. However, they all come together at the end of the day to have fun together on the island they share. This socialization within the game, which doesn’t necessarily require all players to be online at once, will make it incredibly easy to play with friends.

There’s currently a demo of the game available to play at PAX East, and we’ve already visited the booth. Now new gameplay features are coming thick and fast, but it’s important to remember that at its core this is a game about creating a life to share with others. Even if you end up playing by yourself most of the time, you can visit another player’s island, or just send them gifts from time to time if you like yours too much.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches on March 20, 2020.

Started out playing Metroid 2 on the GameBoy at around 5 years-old, and now I write about games all day long. Can't play Switch and drive, I've tried. As time goes on the Switch is quickly becoming my favourite console of all time.
