Last week we reported on info from a Digital Bros financial report that suggested a sequel to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was in development. Now, official Bloodstained social media has acknowledged this and stated that 505 Games and ArtPlay are currently working on it.
Regarding recent reports, @505_Games and @ArtplayEN are in very early planning stages for a #Bloodstained sequel. However, current development resources are focused on completing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night's upcoming content. We have a lot planned for you. pic.twitter.com/yPV0n31gBX

There’s a catch though. Not only is the sequel in the “very early planning stages,” but the current development team is still working on fulfilling the remainder of the DLC for the original game. Still, this is exciting news for Bloodstained fans, and while it doesn’t seem like an announcement at E3 was in the works for this year, hopefully it means that information will be coming sooner rather than later. It’s refreshing to see a company acknowledge leaks and also temper fans’ expectations. The hype season is upon us and we’re getting tons of rumors, leaks, and “insider information,” so it can be hard to know what to trust.
At any rate, I can’t wait to see what kind of production Koji Igarashi has in store for the official announcement. It’ll be hard to top the original Bloodstained Kickstarter video, but I’d be amazed if we don’t get a spectacle. Are you excited for a sequel to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night? Looking forward to some gothic horror Metroidvania action? Let us know!
