It’s almost time for the next big Wii U port on Switch, as we finally get to revisit Super Mario 3D World. This port looks a little different though, as Nintendo is bringing a new expansion to the table with Bowser’s Fury. Ahead of the launch next month, we finally get a glimpse of what the add-on will entail.
Bowser’s Fury revealed
It has a lot to do with cats, funnily enough. The expansion sees you take control of Cat Mario for the duration, exploring what certainly looks like a more open environment. It all concludes with a battle against a “gargantuan” Bowser, where the fight is scaled up to new heights.
When it comes to the base game from Wii U, that part remains largely the same. By that, we mean it’ll still be an incredibly fun 3D Mario multiplayer experience, the only one in the series to feature co-op play. This time Nintendo is taking things online though, expanding the co-op options to include couch and online play.
The rest of the new trailer focuses solely on what you’ll be up to in Bowser’s Fury. The level(s) shown off look Odyssey-like in scope and structure, with a more open design style. The whole thing sees you take hold of Cat Mario though, meaning the world will be open to his unique abilities.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury launches Feb. 12, 2021, on Nintendo Switch.
