If prominent leaker @New_WabiSabi is accurate, there is a new Crash Bandicoot game on the way. According to Sabi’s sources, the game will star Crash and Coco, will maintain the same linear style as the original Naughty Dog trilogy, and will follow a structure similar to Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World with several themed worlds. In short, it sounds like a faithful follow-up to the original trilogy that will not mess with the base formula too much. A new game for the famously expressive Bandicoot is the most logical way to capitalize on the franchise’s recent return to glory. There are, however, many ways to accomplish that. What would you like to see from a new Crash Bandicoot game?

While leaks already suggest otherwise, I would like to see some less linear levels. Something like a sprawling, wide-open area or two, or even just a fun hub with tons of nooks and crannies like Peach’s Castle in Super Mario 64, could add a lot to the overall experience.

Of course, such a change is not at all necessary for a new Crash Bandicoot to be great. Speaking off of my limited experience with the games, the early trilogy generally specializes in gauntlets of tough, precise platforming rather than wide-open levels. If the developer is focused on delivering a traditionally linear Crash experience, perhaps some co-op missions would sufficiently build on that package without changing things up too much.

What are you hoping to see in the new Crash Bandicoot game? Do you want to see the series revolutionized, or will you be happy if the game is simply true to form? Sound off in the comments.
