The latest UK physical game charts data has been released for the week ending May 1, 2021, and New Pokémon Snap has taken the number one spot. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the sequel to the 1999 classic has managed to sell four times the amount of the original at launch. This doesn’t even include the digital sales, which are likely to be high as well. New Pokémon Snap has also managed to sell 2.5 times the copies of last year’s Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX. Sony also released its brand new PlayStation 5 exclusive Returnal on the same day, which has taken the second spot.
Unsurprisingly, there are still a lot of Nintendo Switch games in the top 10. It has been like this for the past few iterations of the charts, with the likes of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury continuing to sell like hotcakes.
Below is the GfK top 10 for last week, ending on May 1. Capcom’s Resident Evil Village will extremely likely take the number one spot next week, as the game launches this coming Friday. It will be interesting to see how long New Pokémon Snap remains on the UK charts.
