NPD charts for the month of April are now available, revealing a strong performance for New Pokémon Snap and continued sales leads for the Switch while the industry faces severe manufacturing shortages. Even though the game released on the last day of April, NPD charts still show it as the third best-selling game for the month, behind MLB: The Show 21, and Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War. Other Switch games in the April top ten include Mortal Kombat 11 at 6, Monster Hunter: Rise at 7, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at 10.
It’s worth noting that this ranking does not include digital Xbox sales for MLB, while there are no digital sales whatsoever included for our long-awaited photographic Pokémon adventure. The game’s physical sales more than doubled the launch-month sales of its predecessor. In short: New Pokémon Snap is off to a great start, and its late-April release may translate to a strong showing in the May NPD as well.
