Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe was the best-selling game of the week in Japan, according to Gematsu. The port sold 166, 303 units in the region, far surpassing any other title in copies sold since its launch last Friday.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate came in second, selling 62, 580 units in the timeframe. Tales of Vesperia, which also launched last Friday, came in third and fourth. The PS4 version sold 41,510 units, whereas the Switch version sold 26, 588 units.

The Japanese market flocked to pick up their copy of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, but it remains to be seen if the excitement continues in the coming weeks. Though it’ll likely crack the top ten for a while, I foresee the game losing a big portion of its opening sales in next week’s report.
