Nintendo has just released yet another firmware update for the Nintendo Switch hybrid console. This update bumps up the firmware version of the Switch’s operating system to 8.1.0. Your console should automatically download it. If not, then you’ll be prompted to download the update manually.

So, what do we have here?

If you were hoping for some big new additions with this patch, then you’ll be in for a bit of a disappointment. This firmware update mainly provides “stability improvements”, as Nintendo puts it:

Improvements Included in Version 8.1.0 (Distributed 06/17/2019)

  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.

Usually, patches such as these actually serve as security updates, so as is usually the case, the Switch hacking community is now in a mini-frenzy trying to crack it.
