While the series’ mainline titles generally skip Nintendo platforms, several portable series entries have landed on past Nintendo handhelds. The most recent example came in 2012 with the 3DS’s Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Series director Tetsuya Nomura has stated that at least one spin-off will release before the next mainline entry. If that is still the plan, then the next Kingdom Hearts game could very well end up on Switch if Square Enix is still open to throwing its popular Disney mash-up onto Nintendo platforms. (As an aside, Squenix, if you won’t give us a new title in the series, another great option would be a Switch port of the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix that released on PS4 in 2017. Please?)
Would you check out the next Kingdom Hearts game if it landed on Switch? Do you think that it will even release within the Switch’s life cycle, or will the series be out of commission until Nintendo’s next gen? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
