Following a leak late last month, it’s now official. Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Level-5 have announced Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom – Prince’s Edition for Nintendo Switch with a release date of Sept. 17, 2021 for the Americas. This new version of the beautiful RPG will contain all of the DLC that was released for the original 2018 version of the game, which launched exclusively on PlayStation 4 and PC. That DLC includes The Lair of the Lost Lord and Tale of a Timeless Tome, which Bandai Namco pegs at a $25 value.
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom – Prince’s Edition contains a soundtrack from famous Studio Ghibli collaborator Joe Hisaishi, and character designs were provided by former Studio Ghibli artist Yoshiyuki Momose. Unlike in the first game, the animation was not provided by Studio Ghibli itself, but this game certainly seems to retain that whimsical flavor. The premise of the game is that the young ruler of Ding Dong Dell, Evan Pettywhisker Tildrum, is “dethroned by a treacherous coup and must rebuild a new kingdom free of strife while uniting the whole world of Ni no Kuni.”
The combat system is different this time around, replacing some mechanics of the first game and introducing more than 100 “Higgledies” to mix and match to create strategy in combat. They assist in combat and create buffs for the main heroes.
If you missed out on Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom – Prince’s Edition the first time, now is your chance to make up for that come its release date in September on Nintendo Switch.
