Ni no Kuni new game coming from Level-5

We learned at E3 that Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is headed to Nintendo Switch on Sept. 20. But that’s not all that’s going on with the franchise. There is also an animated film releasing in Japan on Aug. 23. And now Level-5 has casually revealed that it is working on a new Ni no Kuni game as well.

This information comes via Dual Shockers translation of a Nikkei discussion with Level-5 president Akihiro Hino. The grand plan is to expand Ni no Kuni into an ongoing multimedia franchise that can continue growing. Toward that end, a Ni no Kuni smartphone app of some kind is in the works as well.

No platform for the new game has been announced. PlayStation 4 or 5 seems like a safe bet, but Nintendo Switch is a question mark, especially if the second game never makes its way to Switch.

In any case, Hino also discusses Yokai Watch in the interview. He says that Yokai Watch 4 is the very first Level-5 game designed from the start for Nintendo Switch. Incidentally, Yokai Watch will also receive a(nother) Japanese animated film, slated for this December.

Level-5 is in a healthy place right now, and if you’re a Ni no Kuni fan, there is good reason to be excited.
