Nintendo has announced that their budget 3DS model, the Nintendo 2DS, will be dropped to the price of $79.99. Originally released for $99.99, this is a significant price decrease. Some of these systems will also come with Mario Kart 7 already downloaded. Combined with the many recent 3DS additions to the Nintendo Selects line – which feature Nintendo games for just $19.99 – Nintendo is clearly making a concerted push to make their 3DS products more affordable.

The 2DS does not feature the glasses-free 3D or the closeable screens of other 3DS models, but for those who just want to play the 3DS’ extensive library, it may be worth a purchase, especially at this new price. Has the price drop convinced you to try out the handheld? Sound off below!
