Back in June, Japanese publication Nintendo DREAM asked its readers to answer: Who is your favorite Nintendo character? Unsurprisingly, and in Japanese-like fashion, Kirby won by a landslide. Well, with this past issue, Nintendo DREAM readers were asked to vote on which Nintendo character would make the best president. Kirby didn’t win, weirdly enough, but rather, the trustworthy and charming Mario.
Here are the results for who would make the best president, per DREAM readers and voters:
- Mario (Super Mario) – 88pt
- Tom Nook (Animal Crossing) – 52pt
- Bowser (Super Mario) – 46pt
- Wario (WarioWare) – 23pt
- Robin (Fire Emblem) – 18pt
- Kirby (Kirby) – 17pt
- Olimar (Pikmin)
- Zelda (The Legend of Zelda)
- Marth (Fire Emblem)
- Chrom (Fire Emblem)
Interestingly, Tom Nook was a close second, at 52 points, while the villainous Bowser led third at 46 points. The anti-hero Wario, who would have my vote, came in forth place. But frankly, Zelda would probably perform the best in a position of power, and she landed at number eight.
According to Japanese Nintendo, next week the publication will ask: “Which Character Do You Want To Be On A Desert Island With?” If Kirby doesn’t win that poll, I don’t think I truly know Japan anymore.
