The Year of Smash Bros. continues! Now that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U was shown off at this year’s E3 with the Super Smash Bros. Invitational, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will be getting its own showcase – but with a bit of a twist. Unlike the E3 event, which was a 16-man invitational tournament, this competition is open to all-comers!
If you\’re attending this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, July 24th-27th, you\’ll have the chance to enter this competition if you show up on time. Be one of the first people at the Nintendo Gaming Lounge to get your spot in the tournament!
Fans are invited to come to the Nintendo Gaming Lounge at the Marriott Marquis & Marina located at 333 W. Harbor Drive (adjacent to the San Diego Convention Center) for a chance to participate.
Starting at noon, there will be a preliminary round in which groups of four competitors battle it out, with the winner advancing. During the finals, players will duke it out one-on-one to determine the top smasher. Tournament slots are limited, and fans will be able to sign up the day of the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
To weed out the good from the great, you\’ll have to survive intense rounds of free-for-all before you can battle it out one-versus-one to claim victory. Details are limited, so we are not sure if the build featured at this event will be the same as the one offered at E3 2014 or other Nintendo events since then.
For fans not able to attend San Diego Comic-Con, tournament action will be streamed live on Nintendo’s Twitch channel at http://www.twitch.tv/Nintendo. Additional Nintendo Gaming Lounge activities will be announced in the future.
