The Big N is no stranger to the world of lawsuits. Every few months it seems like another company is taking it to court. But, Ninty often prevails, and that’s exactly what happened in this case with the case between it and Gamevice.

Copy-cat capers

Gamevice tried to accuse the Big N of infringing on its patents due to the modular design of the Switch and the Joy-Con. In fact, Gamevice had 19 claims against Nintendo. Even so, each of them were shot down in Nintendo’s favor.

Gamevice has been trying to go back and forth with the Japanese giant ever since 2017. At first glance, the detachable controller for mobile devices does look strikingly similar to Switch, but it’s clear that Nintendo’s R&D had nothing to do with Gamevice.
