Welcome back to another edition of Nintendo Showdown! This is a weekly series at Nintendo Enthusiast, and it requires some audience participation. Every week we’ll compare two (or more) Nintendo games and pit them against each other in a showdown. Your votes decide the winner, so choose wisely. This week we’re paring up two classic Pokémon spin-off games on Nintendo 64: Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Snap. Both games launched in 1999 (at least in Japan) and greatly expanded the definition of a Pokémon game. Which game is better? Cast your vote below and help us decide!
Pokémon Stadium vs. Pokémon Snap
Nintendo 64 classics
Pokémon Stadium took the fun of Pokémon battles to a whole new level with its 3D graphics. It was pretty incredible to see all of those lovable monsters in all their polygonal glory. On top of the battle system, it was packed full of fun mini-games that were great for parties.
Pokémon Snap was a unique experience that strayed far from the normal Pokémon formula. Instead of battling your way to the Elite Four, you take a leisurely ride through Pokémon Island, snapping photographs of the wildlife. It was a fun departure from the norm that still has fans begging for a sequel 20 years later.
