Nintendo Switch Online

The Nintendo Switch Online NES and SNES apps both just received some quiet updates. The NES Online app now sits at Version 5.0, while the SNES Online app is at Version 2.0. Currently, we don’t know what these updates are all about. There are no release notes and, at least so far, no new games have been announced for either service.

Currently, we haven’t seen any new games on the Nintendo Switch Online service since September. That month, we got to enjoy Super Mario All-Stars toward the beginning, and then we received a larger batch with Donkey Kong Country 2Mario’s Super Picross, and The Peace Keepers on the SNES end, and S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team on NES. Since we are closing in on December, it might be about time for some new games, or even a whole new system – I’d love a Nintendo 64 app, though I think that Game Boy or Game Boy Advance games are more likely if we even get anything. Nintendo does like to label pretty insignificant updates with big, shiny numbers like 2.0 and 5.0. If anything is going to drop alongside these updates, it should be ready in the next day or two, so be sure to keep an eye out.

What titles and systems are you dying to see added to Nintendo Switch Online? Do you think any of those dreams will come true alongside these updates? Sound off in the comments.
