This morning, Nintendo revealed their updated annual financials, and at first glance the report did not look good. Not only did Nintendo fail to meet sales expectations for the Wii U and 3DS, but the company took $23 million in losses. Hidden deep in the pages of the report, however, was a mystery acquisition made by Nintendo. David Gibson, a gaming senior research analyst, was first to catch the detail within the report.

@Nintendo spends over US$100m on mystery tech acquisition in 4Q, no word on what it is, QOL? new hardware related? unknown

This giant mystery acquisition seemed to have slipped by the mainstream press; however, it will still be very interesting to see where this acquisition will ultimately lead to. E3, perhaps? Either way, it seems like had these $100 million not been spent Nintendo would have ended the year in black as opposed to red.
