In the digital age, most gaming magazines have moved online, seen significantly fewer sales, or shut down entirely. In the U.K., there hasn’t been a dedicated Nintendo mag since 2014, when Official Nintendo Magazine published its final issue in October of that year. Now, a Kickstarter project is looking to revive the dormant gaming mag sector with Ninty Fresh, a brand new magazine for the U.K.
It’s being created by a group who sees a gap in the market and already has some of the most well-known Nintendo magazine writers on board. Pun aside, the magazine’s title will look to cover every era of Nintendo, from the NES through to the Switch. In fact, former Official Nintendo Magazine writer Chris Scullion has an NES-related feature written for the first issue.

The initial Kickstarter pledge goal of £2,000 has already been met, which ensures the first issue will go to print. This first mag will contain 80 pages, and more funding could lead to more issues. As of now, the only stretch goal posted is for £10,000. If the project hits that goal, all first issues will be “packaged with a high-quality art print from the cover. And a little custom-drawn pin badge of the NES.” The team, who is also behind Switch Player Magazine, is targeting an August release.
Do you have any fond Nintendo magazine memories like us? Would you pick up a brand new Nintendo mag like Ninty Fresh?
