Nippon Ichi Software launched a teaser website for what appears to be a new Nintendo Switch game about a bad king and an honorable hero. The website only shows a brief video of a forest followed by the words “coming soon,” but it didn’t take long for details to leak from an early Biccamera product page. In addition to the full title and Switch platform, we now know that it will release in Japan on June 24, 2021.
The Japanese title is “Warui Ousama to Rippa na Yuusha,” which translates to “The Bad King and the Honorable Hero.” Here’s a story summary from the product page:
A heartwarming story born from an interspecies exchange
“I am going to become an honorable hero, just like Papa!”
The young human girl named Yuu is the daughter of the deceased hero.
She’s being raised by the King Dragon, who tells her stories about her father every night.
Yearning to be like the hero who defeated the Demon Lord in the stories, she sets off on an adventure to become an honorable hero.
However, little does Yuu know that the King Dragon’s true identity is the Demon Lord her father once fought.
Nippon Ichi Software describes the graphics of the new Switch game as being in a picture book style. The last time NIS described a game like that was for the 2018 title The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince. It also features a fairytale-like setting. The art style shown in the top image certainly look similar, so perhaps it is something new from the team. We’ll get a closer look when the official announcement arrives in the coming days. For now, check out the teaser trailer from the official website below:
