NIS Classics Vol. 1 release date Nintendo Switch August 31, 2021 NIS America

NIS America has set a Nintendo Switch release date for NIS Classics Vol. 1, landing on Aug. 31, 2021. The collection contains strategy RPGs Phantom Brave and Soul Nomad & the World Eaters, which launched in 2004 and 2007 respectively on PlayStation 2. (Phantom Brave also came to Wii in 2009.) And while Phantom Brave is already available on Steam, Soul Nomad will also arrive on the platform on Aug. 31.

Here’s how NIS America describes Soul Nomad & the World Eaters specifically, as it released a trailer for it today as part of NIS Classics Vol. 1:

Gig and the gang are back to spread destruction in Soul Nomad & the World Eaters! Utilize customizable “Rooms” to assemble and experiment with different team builds with over 25 different unit types such as Knight, Archer, Nerneid, and Griphos Knight. Make impactful choices that change the outcome of the story, scout out battle conditions prior to combat, and even kidnap or do battle with the townsfolk!

NIS Classics Vol. 1 will include all the DLC from the original games, plus upscaled artwork. Additionally, the NIS America website offers a $99.99 limited edition that includes a hardcover art book, complete soundtrack, acrylic stands with collector’s coins, and a collector’s box.

With the Nintendo Switch release date for NIS Classics Vol. 1 now set, what do you hope to see in an inevitable Vol. 2?
