pokemon ranked battles

The Pokémon Company held the longest ever Pokémon Presents, giving us nearly half an hour of updates. Most of that time was spent on Pokémon Legends: Arceus and the Diamond and Pearl remakes. We learned tons of details about new and revamped features that will show up in these games, but we also learned about one key feature that won’t be present in either. The Pokémon Company has confirmed that Ranked Battles will be absent in both games.

No Ranked Battles

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will once again feature the Union Room, just like their predecessors. Here you can battle and trade with other players from all over the world. Legends: Arceus will similarly feature a “trading post” where you can trade with other players, though it’s unclear if you can battle. However, we know for sure that neither will feature a Ranked Battles option.

The Pokémon Company didn’t explain why they made the decision to exclude this feature this time around. Instead, they suggested you continue playing the Ranked Battles in Pokémon Sword and Shield. It’s worth noting that Legends: Arceus is a very different type of game from past Pokémon titles, and the Diamond and Pearl remakes are being developed by ILCA rather than Game Freak.
