An update for the Nintendo Switch Online app on smartphones brings a feature called NookLink. With this new feature, players in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can chat to friends using both their voice and their smartphone’s keyboard, as we’ve reported before. The app is essential for making the most of your time relaxing on an island getaway, but it’s also got a few other helpful uses.
One of the best features of NookLink is the ability to download custom designs you might have made in previous games. With the app, you can scan QR codes for designs from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. These can then be transferred for you to use on your Switch in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
For those who have spent hours and hours pouring over the designs of their homes in previous games, NookLink might be an essential tool. All of that effort can be brought over to the latest Animal Crossing game, meaning that there’s no need to try to run two games at once just so you can copy that wallpaper exactly.
If you’re worried about your friends coming over to your island and destroying all of the effort that you’ve put into designing every aspect of it, don’t be. Nintendo has confirmed that it’s not possible for other players to destroy anything on your island.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out today! Stay tuned for our review in the coming days.
