null drifter

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a good bullet hell style video game. Whether it’s a sensory overload Japanese vertical shooter or an overwhelming and arcade-y twin-stick adventure, I’m all over it. That’s why I’m pretty excited for Null Drifter, a newly revealed twin-stick shooter for the Nintendo Switch sporting a slick, old-school aesthetic.

Null Drifter may only utilize one bit of graphic rendering power, but don’t let that dissuade you; there are still well-designed bosses and hordes of enemies to blast away in this game. As you progress you’ll also come across a variety of upgrades and unlockables. You can secure new weapon types, and even bolster the stats of your ship. On top of all of that, there are a huge amount of unlockable color palettes for you to find throughout the game that let you change up the aesthetic of the world however you see fit.

If you’re really cruisin’ for a bruisin’, you can take on a variety of special and gradually evolving challenge levels in Null Drifter. Then, you can share your scores to the worldwide online leaderboards and see how you fare against the rest of the world.

Null Drifter is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, although a release date has yet to be specified.
