The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

While mods for titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have been all the rage lately, we’ve also seen plenty of mods for classic Nintendo games, including a handful for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the arguable crown jewel of the Nintendo 64. A demo for a recent mod by modders E-Gor and Spire, though, is a pretty unique twist that we haven’t seen much of before – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but reimagined in a dark fantasy world. The video below by Hard4Games walks through various areas and aspects of the demo, which covers three areas for about ninety minutes of gameplay.

The visual makeover alone is worth checking out. A dark, snowy Hyrule with recolored enemies and environments makes the game look completely new, and incredibly intriguing. While only a little bit of gameplay is covered in the video, we see several interesting scenarios and puzzles that challenge players to unconventionally utilize various quirks of playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to their advantage. The mod looks like a very cool experience. Hopefully, we’ll see a full release with a completely ironed out experience sooner rather than later, because I want to know about this dark fantasy iteration of Hyrule.
