Ocarina of Time

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is an incredible Nintendo 64 game. Super Mario 64 is an incredible Nintendo 64 game. Put the two together, and what do you get? If you ask modder MelonSpeedruns, you end up with a very intricate way to play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time through the colorful, exciting world of Super Mario 64. MelonSpeedruns essentially rebuilt Super Mario 64 within the classic The Legend of Zelda title, but with all of the necessary bells and whistles to give it a distinctive The Legend of Zelda flair. Check out the video below, courtesy of Hard4Games, to get a visual idea of just how great the two games look upon combination.

It’s very hard to pick between The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64, but maybe you shouldn’t have to. The video above makes a “best of both worlds” approach look very enticing. Frankly, it’s one of the coolest concepts for a mod I’ve ever seen. Mash-ups like this aren’t entirely unheard of, especially in the everlasting Nintendo 64 modding scene, but the lengths that MelonSpeedruns went to here to make the world of Super Mario 64 resemble a setting fitting of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is nothing short of jaw-dropping. For two contrasting genres and worlds, these two games seem to go together pretty darn well.
