Ocarina of Time

If you’ve grown weary of seeing the same tired costumes on your umpteenth playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, you might want to check out modder Skilar Babcock‘s recent creation. They’ve added costumes based on two of Link’s much more recent adventures, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The Twilight Princess costume, available now, is an update on a 2018 mod that tricks out Link’s clothes, equipment, hair, and even his voice to look more like his famous first Wii outing. Some might think it’s a slightly snazzier look than the traditional Ocarina of Time garb.

If a Wii-era costume isn’t enough modernization for you, Skilar has another Ocarina of Time mod in the works that adds in the striking blue tunic from Breath of the Wild, and it’s looking positively fantastic so far. Check out both mods in action in Hard4Games‘ video below. The first half covers the Twilight Princess mod, while the second looks forward to the Breath of the Wild version. (If you just want to hear the Twilight Princess voice in action, skip to the two-minute mark).

The N64 modding scene is alive and well in 2020, largely thanks to contributions like those of Skilar Babcock. In a testament to the library’s enduring magic, games like Ocarina of TimeSuper Mario 64, and many more are constantly granted new life through creative fan-made content updates. It’s a wonderful feeling to be constantly looking forward to whatever surprise awaits next.
