Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm from Cornfox & Bros. released last year as an exclusive to Apple Arcade. The series wears its Zelda inspirations on its sleeve, with this one taking a lot of notes from Breath of the Wild. The first game in the series launched on pretty much every current platform over the years, with the Switch version doing particularly well. Now, Oceanhorn 2 arrives on Switch in 2020, following a year of Apple Arcade exclusivity.
If you’ve always wanted a suitable alternative to Zelda, this could be it. Where the first game in the series went for a more old-school Zelda style, this ones goes full third-person open-world. Taking inspiration from more modern Zelda games, Oceanhorn 2 looks like a great tie-over before the Breath of the Wild sequel drops sometime in the future.
Rip-offs aren’t always crowd pleasers, but Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas did a good job of capturing the Zelda spirit. It also helps that the game was polished and fun to play, something a lot of copycats don’t achieve. Oceanhorn 2 looks to carry that forward whilst introducing a full 3D world with more modern elements, and we’re here for it.
Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm is set for a fall 2020 release on Nintendo Switch.
