Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent has reached over 400,000 pre-registrations, according to Square Enix. To celebrate, a sneak peek of the soundtrack was released to the public. The piece was composed by Yasunori Nishiki, the composer for Octopath Traveler.
If you hadn’t heard, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is the smartphone prequel to the Switch game. Champions of the Continent is set to release sometime in 2019 in Japan.
One of the best aspects of Octopath Traveler was its music. While music is one of the most subjective topics that I could get into, I personally dig this preview. What can I say? I’m a sucker for vocals in video game music.
Champions of the Continent will feature parties of up to eight characters, while Octopath Traveler only let you use four at a time. The story will be split into three different paths each following a main character and will retain the path actions from the original.
While there is no word still on a western release, I hope this music snippet stirs some interest. I would love to see more Octopath Traveler, even though I was a bit cool on it by the end. While a sequel is apparently in the works, there hasn’t been word for a while. For now, all we can do is wait.
What did you think of the musical preview? Would you be interested in trying out Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent if it came westward? Let us know in the comments.
