Octopath Traveler

If you liked Octopath Traveler, more of its kind may be in our future. Takashi Mochizuki, a Tech reporter for the Wall Street Journal, took part in a Square Enix earnings conference today. The reporter tweeted several interesting bits of information from the call, not the least of which was a resounding “yes” from the publisher when asked if similar games can be expected in the future.

Square Enix also noted that the commercial results of the game have indicated a greater appreciation for JRPG’s and that the design might play to the nostalgia of older fans of the publisher. Additionally, Square Enix noted that the Switch is a solid platform for such titles but was also open to the idea of bringing similar games to other platforms.

Octopath Traveler took the Nintendo community by storm this summer. The retro-inspired JRPG from Square Enix has already seen significant commercial success. Furthermore, Mochizuki indicated via Twitter from the conference that sales are even stronger than the initial pre-sales forecast, especially in the U.S. and Europe.

What did you think of Octopath Traveler? Would you like to see more classic-inspired JRPG’s come to the Nintendo Switch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section. And, stay tuned to Nintendo Enthusiast for the latest coverage in all things Nintendo.
