Pollyanna 2 comic Mother

Last year we saw various Mother / EarthBound-themed goods from series creator Shigesato Itoi’s company Hobonichi. One particular Mother tribute comic and art book is getting a second book, Pollyanna 2.

The first Pollyanna book, released in June 2020, featured contributions from 35 different manga artists and other creators. Some of the guest artists included Undertale creator Toby Fox and Nichijou creator Arawi Keiichi. The book also featured several comics by artists who worked on the series, including Mother 3 artist Nobuhiro Imagawa.

Hobonichi is currently accepting submissions from manga artists to be featured in Pollyanna 2. The announcement tweet also asks fans to tag their favorite artists known for being passionate Mother / Earthbound fans. Of course, anybody interested can also apply by sending an email to [email protected] with the subject line listed in the second-to-last row of the tweet above, starting with “Pollyanna2.” (The Japanese text that follows it translates to “manga artist candidate.”) The deadline is March 31, 2021.

If the second book is anything like the first Pollyanna, we can expect to see more story illustrations on the Mother series. There’s no word on how many artists will be featured in Pollyanna 2, but we’ll hear more about it after the deadline. The first Pollyanna featured 224 pages and cost 2,640 yen (~$24.35), so Pollyanna 2 will likely be somewhere around there.

In case you missed it last month, Hobonichi kicked off preorders for the legendary Mother 2 sukajan jacket.
