During the Devolver Direct back in July, Devolver Digital announced it would be publishing Olija from developer Skeleton Crew Studio “soon” on Nintendo Switch and PC. Well, “soon” has now become “2021,” but the game will also now be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One whenever it finally arrives. Olija draws inspiration from Another World and Prince of Persia but tries to spice things up with a “legendary harpoon” game mechanic, which allows protagonist Faraday to latch on to distant things or attack faraway enemies. Faraday’s goal is to get himself out of the “mysterious country of Terraphage,” where he has become shipwrecked.
Devolver Digital offers the following additional details about the game: “Through adventurous exploration, narration and razor sharp combat, the player will discover a strange world and its inhabitants, including Olija, an enigmatic lady that Faraday finds himself bound to over time. Inspired by swashbuckling tales and cinematic adventure games, Olija is a story about facing the unknown in adversity.”
For PC players, there is a free demo available on Steam. Everyone else will have to keep twiddling their thumbs for a while to see what Skeleton Crew Studio is up to. Let us know what you think of this game so far.
