In another announcement from today’s Devolver Direct, Devolver Digital will publish Olija from Skeleton Crew Studio “soon” on Nintendo Switch and PC. Skeleton Crew Studio is, according to its website, just solo developer Thomas Olsson, who was inspired by the likes of Another World and Prince of Persia.

Olija is about Faraday, a man shipwrecked and trapped in “the mysterious country of Terraphage.” He has a “legendary” (okay) harpoon that he uses to help himself escape and return home. As for the titular character of the game, Olija is “an enigmatic lady that Faraday finds himself bound to over time,” which could be used to describe half or more of the heroines in the history of video games.

But don’t dwell on that. Just check out the gameplay trailer.

Olija challenges you to “rethink movement through platforming, puzzle, and combat,” so it is clear there is an emphasis on fluidity. There also appears to be a variety of distinct environments inspired by the East. If this is your jam, keep this Skeleton Crew Studio title on your radar.

Devolver Digital also announced with a new trailer today that reverse-horror game Carrion will release on Nintendo Switch on July 23. That was the only other Nintendo news in today’s showcase, which was actually pretty light on announcements in general.
