Oninaki trailer

One of my most anticipated games of the month, Tokyo RPG Factory’s Oninaki, is finally out today! Though I won’t be able to play it for a little while yet, Square Enix has provided a way to temporarily assuage me. The publisher was kind enough to release a launch trailer for the title, featuring some of the characters, combat, and themes you can expect to find in this adventure!

Oninaki centers on death and reincarnation as its main themes. You play as Kagachi, whose job as a Watcher is to uphold the tenets of reincarnation. If a person dies with regrets or concerns, their soul remains attached to the world. As a Watcher, it is your duty to guide these souls to the next life, saving them from becoming monsters—a fate worse than death.

We recently reviewed Oninaki, calling it “a refreshing take on RPGs.” If the above trailer has you intrigued, but not enough to outright buy the game, there’s a free demo out on the eShop that allows you to play the opening hour or so of the game. Progress from the demo carries over to the full game, so you have no reason not to check it out!

Oninaki is now available on the Switch eShop for $49.99. Will you be picking this one up?
