Overcooked!

The Switch lends itself well to a lot of different gaming experiences. Thanks to the split Joy-Con, on-the-go multiplayer and cooperative play are both incredibly accessible on the system. After Nintendo’s competitors spent the last two console generations moving further and further away from couch co-op experiences,  plenty of great co-op games have found a home on the Switch. Experiences range all the way from distractingly fun add-ons (like the option to play as Cappy in Super Mario Odyssey) to a suite of full-fledged indie options like Overcooked! and Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. Which Switch co-op experience is your favorite?

I have to go with Overcooked! The chaotic kitchen simulator relies on its winning formula of forcing players to use teamwork to efficiently chop up ingredients, cook, assemble different culinary delights, and serve an endless stream of customers until the timer runs out. A five-star recipe for a good time, Overcooked! never has to spice up the formula much at all outside of adding increasingly complicated recipes and consistently ramping up the absurdity of the many in-game kitchens. Overcooked! has a knack for reducing all who partake in its chaos to a primal, frantic state. It’ll be a proximate cause to a whole lot of kicking and screaming while your party works towards perfecting kitchen strategies without burning down everything in sight. It sounds stressful, and oftentimes, it is, but finally prevailing for three stars on a level makes the whole process worth it.

What is your favorite co-op experience on Switch? Teaming up as Mario and Cappy in Super Mario Odyssey‘s two-player mode? The river raft in Super Mario Party? An indie game nobody has ever heard of? Tell us your pick in the comments.
