Overwatch 2 confirmed for Nintendo Switch Blizzard BlizzCon trailer

Blizzard revealed Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon 2019 today, revealing refreshed visuals, new PvE mechanics, new character Sojourn, and an incredible “shared multiplayer experience” with the original Overwatch. And though not revealed at the time, Destructoid is reporting that the game is confirmed for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The big addition of Overwatch 2 is story PvE missions, as well as new “Hero” missions that promise “highly replayable co-op experiences.” Aside from that, the game will of course feature upgraded graphics and refreshed looks for characters. There is also a new game mode, Push, “in which two teams compete to make a robot (that happens to be pretty good at pushing things) push the map’s objective to their opponent’s side.”

However, the element of Overwatch 2 most likely to blow fans’ socks off is that its entire multiplayer experience will also be available in the original Overwatch! New heroes and maps introduced in the new game will be available to play in the first title as well. Additionally, all your hard-earned cosmetics from the original game will transfer over to Overwatch 2. These steps were taken so as not to create a dramatic schism in the massive player base that the series has cultivated to date.

Check out the cinematic and gameplay videos below, because I’ve truthfully never played Overwatch (or most Blizzard games) in my life and you’ll appreciate it more than I do. Overwatch 2 will release some time before the end of 2020.
