The first Panzer Dragoon remake launched for Nintendo Switch in March 2020, but those looking forward to the sequel’s remake won’t have to wait long as the developers confirmed on Twitter that Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake will launch in 2021.
The original game, Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, was first released for the Sega Saturn in 1996. Sega released the sequel just less than a year after the first rail shooter game, Panzer Dragoon, in 1995. While Sega handled the development and publishing of the original games, the remakes’ publisher is Forever Entertainment, and the developer is MegaPixel Studio. The companies announced their partnership with Sega along with the announcement of both remakes back in December 2018.
After the first remake made its way to Switch last March, it then launched for Google Stadia in June 2020. The Steam and PlayStation 4 versions followed in September 2020, then onto the Xbox One in December 2020. The Zwei remake platforms haven’t been announced, but we can expect to hear more from the creators soon. For now, check out this circa 1996 trailer for the original Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, courtesy of Sega of America:
