Peaky Blinders: Mastermind release date set for August FuturLab Curve Digital

Peaky Blinders: Mastermind has been further shown off by Curve Digital, and it’s coming to Switch on Aug. 20! This top-down puzzle-adventure game is based off the hit BBC-produced TV series. It follows a similar format to last year’s Narcos: Rise of the Cartels, which delivered a top-down strategy experience for fans of the Netflix Original series.

The game takes place immediately before the events of the show’s first season. Here, players join the Shelby family’s criminal organization as they discover a sinister plot to put Tommy (the show’s lead character) out of business. Peaky Blinders: Mastermind is being developed by FuturLab in collaboration with those who make the TV show. FuturLab was a big PlayStation Vita developer, so the team should know a thing or two about crafting a solid handheld experience for Switch.

Gang strategy

There’s an element of strategy integrated into the game’s puzzle-adventure roots, as players must move characters into position at the right moment to navigate different scenarios. Production values certainly aren’t on the level of the BBC-produced show, but it nails the look of grimy 1920s Birmingham pretty well. The show’s lead actor, Cillian Murphy, lends his voice-over to the reveal trailer, which does add a bit extra to the overall presentation of Peaky Blinders: Mastermind.

Anil Mistry, Director of Gaming & Ecommerce at ESG, the TV show’s distribution company, had this to say about Peaky Blinders: Mastermind:

We are thrilled to be partnering with Curve and FuturLab in making the first official Peaky Blinders game. Futurlab has faithfully re-created the Peaky Blinders’ universe and having Cillian provide the voiceover adds a real sense of authenticity to this game. Hopefully, fans of the show and gamers alike will be excited to get their thinking caps on and enjoy this compelling puzzle adventure like no other.

Peaky Blinders: Mastermind launches on Nintendo Switch in just three weeks.
