Despite the Switch being a pretty massive sales success in the over two years that it’s been on the market, there’s still a noticeable amount of games that are not coming to the system. As a result, one question is asked constantly to developers/publisher most of the time that a new game is on the horizon: “Where’s the Switch version?”
During an interview with Real Sport 101 same question was posed to the brand manager of the PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) series, Mr. Lennart Bonzein. He weighed in with an answer that kind of skirts around the issue.
Bonzein admits that “I love the Switch”, but he “can’t really talk about [it].” He then went on to elaborate that Konami (the company behind PES) recognizes the system, but PES is only being targetted for the PS4, Xbox One and PC at the time with “no Switch version planned right now.”
At the very least, his words do suggest that PES at least a chance at eventually coming to the system, but it doesn’t look like it will be anytime soon. That said, Konami didn’t do it in 2017 or 2018, and there were PES releases during those years, too. Perhaps it thought that bringing PES over wouldn’t make business sense since EA was going all-in with FIFA 18 and FIFA 19. But, that’s changed now with FIFA 2020 being a paltry ‘Legacy Edition’ on Switch. So, next year would be cool if Konami came in and picked up EA’s slack.
