The massive update for Phantasy Star Online 2 called PSO2: New Genesis is getting a simultaneous worldwide launch this June, Sega announced. A Japan-exclusive Starter Package edition will also go on sale this August for PlayStation 4, PC, and Switch.
The New Genesis update will bring an overhaul of graphics and game systems in a setting that takes place 1,000 years after the events of the original PSO2. In addition to a revamped battle system, the update will add various systems, including day and night cycles. While big changes are coming to the MMORPG, both PSO2 and PSO2: New Genesis will coexist as standalone titles. Furthermore, players will be able to use characters created in PSO2 and play them in New Genesis.
As for the Starter Package edition in Japan, it will contain nine special in-game items, a PSO2: NGS mini-soundtrack, and a box featuring artwork by the team. It will go for 4,990 yen (~$46.18) for the PS4 and PC and 4,490 yen (~$41.55) for Nintendo Switch (cloud version).
Here are the nine special items included with the Starter Package:
- Aelio Badge x12
- MTN: Swim – Crawl (Motion) x 1
- STP: Aina – Surf’s up! (Stamp) x 1
- Premium Set (15 Days) x 2
