New Game+ Expo 2021 had plenty of weeb-errific announcements for Nintendo Switch today. One of the biggest is that NIS Classics Vol. 1 is headed to Nintendo Switch in summer 2021, containing Phantom Brave and Soul Nomad & the World Eaters. Both games are strategy RPGs from Nippon Ichi Software and were originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2004 and 2007 respectively. As NIS America says, “New and old fans alike can experience two classic titles from the NIS vault of RPG hits, complete with unique gameplay mechanics, memorable characters, up-scaled artwork, and all DLC from the original releases!”
The title NIS Classics Vol. 1 would imply that a second volume is in the works, which is quite promising, but in the meantime, Phantom Brave and Soul Nomad & the World Eaters will do nicely on Nintendo Switch. Preorders have already opened at the NIS America website for a $99.99 limited edition, which includes a hardcover art book, complete soundtrack, acrylic stands with collector’s coins, and of course a collector’s box.
The strategy RPG genre, while never explosively popular, has also never quietly gone away either, and even Square Enix is finally getting back into the strategic action with Project Triangle Strategy, which has a demo on the Switch eShop right now.
Tell us what you think of Phantom Brave and Soul Nomad & the World Eaters combining as NIS Classics Vol. 1 on Switch!
