Neatly tucked into the coattails of today’s Paper Mario: The Origami King surprise reveal is a rumor that 3D Mario remasters and the previously unheard of Pikmin 3 Deluxe will be ready for release soon. The source is VentureBeat‘s Jeff Grub, who casually mentioned in his Paper Mario article this morning that Nintendo has those games and more almost ready.
Other Nintendo studios will have games ready for release soon, as well. That includes the 3D Mario remasters, but it should also include Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
VentureBeat previously broke a rumor that Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy will all come to Switch in one collection (Eurogamer quickly corroborated). Hopefully, this Pikmin 3 Deluxe reveal will be “confirmed” by other sites just as quickly.
Until then, however, we can only wish that Pikmin 3 Deluxe is indeed a thing, and that both it and the 3D Mario remasters are set for release soon. Since Paper Mario was just confirmed today and is only two months away, anything seems possible. Plus, while we haven’t seen any explicit mention of a revitalized Pikmin adventure before now, Emily Rogers said earlier this year that two Wii U ports were on the way in 2020. Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D World are by far the two most obvious choices for ports. As I said, nothing is confirmed yet, but the stars are lining up. If all goes well, we’ll be one domino closer to that elusive Pikmin 4.
