The Pikmin 3 Deluxe demo has been live on the eShop since Oct. 7. The demo showcases an early portion of the upcoming Wii U port. It contains a number of early-game sections, including Pikmin 3‘s first boss fight. However, YouTuber APerson13 has found exploits / glitches to let you go out of bounds and play beyond what Nintendo had planned.
The player is seen taking a number of steps to reach out-of-bounds areas of the Pikmin 3 demo, including leaving their buddies behind and walking through dodgy terrain. From there, they manage to access areas intended to be locked until the full release. The second boss fight, Vehemoth Phosbat, is present and fully playable in the demo.
However, a further side story isn’t playable as the files simply aren’t there in the demo version. According to the YouTuber, the game crashes when you try and play out the side mission that follows the second boss fight. This exploit might require some trial and error to execute, but it’s doable in the current Pikmin 3 Deluxe demo to get out of bounds.
If you want to see what’s meant to be played during the demo, Nintendo recently released a short trailer. It shows off the beginning area of the game, alongside co-op features and Pikmin abilities. Progress carries over to the main game too, and the “Ultra-Spicy” mode will be available right away if you finish the demo.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe launches October 30 on Switch.
