Pikmin 3 Deluxe finally makes its way over to Nintendo Switch, over seven years on from its initial launch. In recent weeks, Nintendo has certainly been beating the Pikmin drum, with trailer after trailer and a free playable demo. To mark release day, Nintendo has dropped a pretty in-depth Pikmin 3 Deluxe launch trailer that goes over everything the deluxe version has to offer.
First off, on a technical level the game is pretty much a straight conversion from the Wii U. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as Pikmin 3 is a really good-looking game. Its mix of realistic materials and plant life with the hordes of cute Pikmin characters is a uniquely pretty look. The launch trailer shows off the main game’s environmental variety and what’s in store for players with the Switch version.
The Pikmin 3 Deluxe launch trailer also showcases some additional modes for the game. Not only is the Story mode playable in two-player co-op, but there’s a suite of extra single and multiplayer options too. Mission mode offers 36 different individual missions to complete, where you can earn medals based on high scores. Then Bingo Battle mode serves up a local multiplayer experience where you’ve got to work to complete a row on your bingo card. Exclusive Pikmin are playable in both of these additional modes too.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe also offers some extra story content for those of you who completed the Wii U version. New side stories offer brand new prologue and epilogue content, featuring Olimar and Louie from Pikmin and Pikmin 2, respectively.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe is out now on Nintendo Switch.
