Pikmin 3 Deluxe 4 3 Nintendo games of the decade

After a couple of months with nothing but quiet rumors to go off of, Nintendo finally confirmed Pikmin 3 Deluxe this morning in a tweet, giving the game an October 30 release date and a $59.99 price tag. The deluxe edition of the Wii U heavy-hitter promises to feature a host of difficulty modes, additional story content starring Pikmin 2 heroes Olimar and Louie, and, of course, all of the DLC challenges from the original release. Check out the announcement tweet below, which features a trailer hosted on the Nintendo website’s page for the game.

The new side-story missions featuring Olimar and Louie are particularly exciting for Pikmin 3 Deluxe. The original game featured a fun, beautiful adventure starring heroes new to the series, but it’ll be great to spend a little more time with the faces of the franchise. Per a press release that came alongside the game’s reveal, the port also features several difficulty options, optional hints, and lock-on targeting to improve the play experience. Excitingly, Pikmin 3 Deluxe also comes with full co-op for the campaign.

I’ve written before about Pikmin 3 Deluxe and the changes that I’d like to see, such as a more robust multiplayer mode and improved controls. I’m now happy to cross packed-in DLC and new story content off that list. We’ll hopefully learn plenty more exciting details about Pikmin 3 Deluxe between now that October 30 release date. For now, though, let’s just be happy that Nintendo’s 2020 just got a little bit stronger.
